cry cry cry

My first Heartbreak as a Chicago Cubs fan happened today, I am not going to let it mar what I believe 2009 to be, but my heart has broken. The Cubs traded Mark DeRosa today for Aaron Miles and 3 minor league pitchers. They say that your first heartbreak is the hardest and it gets somewhat easier from here, but I just don't know how. I am sad. As a new fan of the Chicago Cubs, I have enjoyed the team the last two years and have not had any form of sadness (other than the obvious not making it to the World Series), but I have listened to die hard Cubs fans Adam, Mike Honcho, Angie, BJ and JC talk about the team and how they have been hurt and how they really love the Cubs. I would listen and nod like I new what they were talking about, but in reality I had never been hurt by the Cubs, disappointed yes, but never hurt. Well my friends, today I was hurt, physically and mentally hurt. It makes me sad to know that next season I will not be able to watch DeRo in a Cubbie uniform or follow his blog recapping on the games and displaying his personal feelings. I felt DeRo and I had a connection, an understanding. All I needed to be a Cubs fan was him in a uniform...but now he is no longer and I am lost. I have been christened a Cubs Fan now that I have experienced the heartache and if this is what it means to be a fan, I hope I have the strength to continue. I know I will, but truly I haven't been this hurt since Oscar DeLaHoya decided to put out an album...and that was painful.

Happy New Years Eve

The girls and I would like to wish you a very happy new years!!! Let's hope that 2009 is as grand a year as ever. I would like to see wonderful things in '09 and first would be a Golden Girls reunion (minus Estelle Getty, since she died), but the other girls in all their glory would just be a fabulous event in this new year. I would also like Fidel too quit eating poop!

OMG...

So, I saw this online and literally laughed out loud!! It's from the SkyMall, you know the awesome mail order mall in the sky, anyway It's awesome AND hilarious:

Pet Observation Dome

A "pet observation dome," Really?! Do dogs really need this? Fidel and Gary have a sixth sense about animals and people outside of the fence, I don't think they need visual confirmation. However, I really want to see these domes on everyone's fence everywhere and in all sizes and heights so I can walk by a long fence and see each animal with their very own dome, I want cats, rabbits, dogs, horses, anything that is on the other side of that fence to be able to see me walk by. Seriously, that would be awesome.

The 12 Days of Christmas

So, we here in Oregon decided to do our own version of The 12 days of Christmas. It is pretty super, so if you are ready, go ahead and sing along in the tune of the original...

On the 12th day of Christmas this Season gave to me

Twelve unspent dollars

Eleven small Fidel turds

Ten seasoned refries

Nine nights of South Park

Eight hours of gaming
Seven jobs not calling
Six Pabst Blue Ribbons

Five cents in the couch

Four stressful days
Three hammered nights

Two begging dogs
And a poop shy Puto dumping

I hope you sang along and enjoyed the wonderment of the season!!! We all love you and wish you a wonderful season.

You Can Now Leave Comments

So I updated my settings and now anyone can leave comments...if you want...no pressure.

Reading with Dogs

I know this is my second post today, but hey, who cares. I wanted to give you guys a little insight into how we spend some of our evenings. Mike Honcho and I have become the newest card-carrying members of the Springfield Public Library. For those of you who haven't been to a library since high school, you know who you are, let me tell you...it's Awesome! You can check out books AND dvd's. For Free! All you have to do is return them! Crazy! Well, one wild night Gary and I decided to read a new book with our new super cool reading glasses.

Then Gary wanted to dress up like one of his all-time favorite characters and hey, who am I to judge.

Gary-lou Who!

Ahhh....SNOW!!!!!

Well, it has snowed here in Eugene, Oregon. And while the players on this blog know all about snow and have lived in it for numerous years, the nice people of Eugene, Oregon do not know what to do when the white stuff falls. When I say 'not know what to do' I really mean it. Last Monday, there was snow fall, I'd say about 2 inches stuck to the ground. Les Schwab had a line out the door, with people waiting to get snow chains and studded tires. The wait was about 5 hours. Schools were closed Monday thru Wednesday. Yesterday, Adam and I were driving and the snow had all melted, the roads were not icy, but we saw a man driving a 4-wheel drive truck with snow chains. I'd just like to say thank you sir for f'ing up the roads...brilliant. I can't say that some caution is not warrented. The Eugene and Springfield police department sent all their officers to the roads because there were car crashes galore. 25 on Monday alone (that was by 4 PM). We all chose to stay inside because we did not want to end up in a ditch thanks to some wild Oregonian. However, I do have to say that the wonderful road maintenance people here did try to plow the roads, but by plow I mean scrape the top layer of loose snow off the roads and leave the icy bottom. So that was nice.

Finally!!!!!!!!

So, I have been really wanting to try the Sierra Mist Cranberry Splash.  I saw a commercial about 3 weeks ago and have been anticipating that sweet, sweet day when I would get to taste the flavor.  Well, that day was today and let me tell you my friends, it did not disappoint.  It was completely wonderful.  And I will mourn the day the big man at the soda company, sitting behind his mahogany desk and ogling his too young secretary, will take it off the shelves and let it rest until next years festive holiday season beckons its return...

Until then sweet Sierra Mist Cranberry Splash, until then...

Dogs and Peanut Butter ... Phenomenal

There really is nothing more hilarious than a dog eating peanut butter, except when it's two dogs and the peanut butter is just a bit out of reach.  By the way, I realize anyone viewing this video may not find it as laugh out loud funny as I did, buy hey, what else do you have to look at right now.  on my blog.  nothing.

Happy Thanksgiving

Yeah, Thanksgiving!!!  I love Thanksgiving, I love turkey, I love stuffing, and I love mashed potatoes!  I hope everyone's thanksgiving is fabulous!  We will be going to a friends house today and no, there will not be a kids table because none of us has kids.  (silent cheer)  I am in charge of the mashed potatoes and Adam will be in charge of the homemade dinner rolls.  He makes a mean roll, man. I can actually make some pretty darn good mashed potatoes which, I think, can make or break your meal.  Maybe because I have never made anything for thanksgiving except the mashed potatoes do I think that it is the most important part, but I tell you what, if it wasn't for other people making the turkey and stuffing, my husband and roommate would be getting one of those already cooked chickens from the market. Those things are good!

Thanksgiving and the Kids Table

As an only child I have never really been around a kids table during holiday dinners.  And if there ever was a kids table growing up, I would have rather eaten my dinner outside with the dogs than be caught dead at it.  I was just talking with some folks about their experiences with the table set up for the young ones to enjoy each others company since they would be sooo bored with adult conversation, when in reality (to me) it seems it is quite the opposite.  It is a table set up so the adults do not have to listen to the kids.  Hmmm....now that I am an adult, sort of, if I had a dinner at my house and invited kids, would I want a kids table or would I let everyone sit at the dinner table.  I am ignoring the fact that I don't currently own a dinner table or any table large enough for more than 4 to sit at.  My husband, being from a large family with 5 other siblings, enjoyed the kids table and looked forward to it.  My roommate on the other hand who has only one other sibling, hated the kids table.  I guess it's up to the size of the family and whether the other kids are cool enough for you to grace their presence with.

An Introduction to the Players

I like to think of life as an ongoing play, although I don't think being in an actual, physical play is something that I would really want to do, pretending that the earth is one big stage waiting for me to deliver that culminating effect that only its star can provide is something I rather enjoy. That being said, I would like to introduce you to some of the players in my ongoing revival...

The Husband. Who may further be known as Clark Kent, not because I think of him as some superhero in an everyday common disguise, but because, labeling him anything but a superhero is not giving him enough credit. And because giving in to the basic boring intro is just not what I want to do. He is Clark Kent.

Then there is yours truly. I think if you are reading this then you know who I am. I am the star, the light that points an ethereal finger toward whomever I am highlighting that moment. I am both earnest and arrogant. I hopefully am, everyday, a better version of me.

Maybe the most important player is our sweet and sour pup of a dog, Fidel. He is all at once the cutest and most disgusting little creature to ever grace this sweet Earth.

This handsome guy is Gary, Garraputo to be exact. He is the most compassionate and guilt-laden dog I have ever met. He will kiss you until you bleed and then give you a nibble just to add the proverbial cherry. He is the exact opposite of Fidel.

And finally we have the roommate who is just as big apart of this story as the rest of us but because he hates, and that is hates with a capital H, his picture taken, there will only be pics like this. And from here on out he will be known as Mike Honcho, because it's Awesome!

Well, there you have your first intro to the folks that make my life oh so exciting. Until next time love birds...
